Judas Swing
Also: Judas · False Move · Manipulation Leg
Definition
The manipulation leg of the daily or session range — a deliberate false move opposite to the true directional bias, engineered to strip liquidity from retail before the algorithm delivers the real range. Named for the "betrayer" move that traps traders who chase the first direction.
Common mistakes
- Chasing the Judas itself, thinking the direction has changed.
- Ignoring HTF bias — a Judas only exists relative to the true range direction.
- Calling every wick a Judas — it must sweep a defined liquidity pool.
Source quotes
